Personalized Rings

It depends what's been personalized. A plain band with engraving on the surface sizes fine. A script name ring, where the letters form the band, generally can't be resized without distorting the spelling. Eternity-style settings with stones all the way round can't be sized at all. Get the size right first.

Measure at the end of the day when fingers are largest, and measure the finger you'll actually wear it on — dominant hands run about half a size bigger. Wrap a strip of paper, mark where it meets, and compare the length against a sizing chart. Guessing from another ring only works if that ring fits the same finger.

Names, initials, dates and short phrases, depending on the style — a band has more room than a signet face. Anything longer than about 15 characters gets small enough to be hard to read. Inside-band engraving fits more and stays private, which is what most people choosing a date want.

Personalized pieces are the standard exception to returns, here as elsewhere. Check spelling and size before confirming. Anything faulty or engraved differently from what you submitted is ours to correct.

The engraving doesn't — it's cut into the metal. What changes is contrast: on gold vermeil the cut exposes silver beneath, so the letters read lighter. Over years of wear the plating thins at the high points too. Solid silver avoids both effects if that bothers you.

A few business days for production, then transit. There's no stock to pull forward from — each is made after ordering. A week's margin ahead of a birthday is sensible; a day's isn't.
