The ring is and was beautiful at the start- bright shiny, gorgeous, looked expensive! Only downside is the gems started falling out about 3 weeks after wearing it. If you want to wear it sparingly or aren’t rough with your hands I think it would last well.

I finally received my ring it was delayed in shipping. It's pretty but I just want to make sure it's 14 kt gold. It is not marked 14 kt and the color seems off. Is it 14 kt gold and why isn't it stamped?

Will the engraving on a name ring wear off?

No. The name is engraved into the metal before the gold is applied, so the gold layer follows the letters rather than sitting on top of them — the engraving is part of the ring, not printed on it. Rings take more contact than any other jewelry (keys, steering wheels, gym bars), so the plating on a ring's outer edge will soften sooner than on a necklace; the engraved letters sit below that surface and stay crisp. Keep hand sanitiser and lotion off it and it looks new for years.

How many letters fit on a name ring?

A single band comfortably fits a name of up to about eight letters; longer names work in a smaller script. Our multiple-name rings hold up to four names on one band. If your name is long, or you want a name and a date, message us before ordering and we will tell you exactly how it will sit before we cut it.

Is this ring real gold?

Yes — it is 18K gold vermeil: a thick layer of real 18K gold bonded over solid 925 sterling silver. Vermeil is an FTC-defined standard, not a marketing word, and ours uses a gold layer at least five times thicker than standard plating. Under it is sterling silver, which is hypoallergenic and worth something on its own. You can also choose the Prestige Gold option (the same 18K gold over a brass core) if you want the look for less and wear it less often. Every vermeil piece is covered by our 2-year warranty.

Can I stack name rings, one for each child?

Yes — that is what the stackable name ring is for. One slim band per person, worn together on one finger, and you add a band when the family does. Order them all in the same metal colour so they read as one piece, or alternate gold and silver if you want each name to stand on its own. If you would rather have everyone on a single ring, the multiple-name ring puts up to four names on one band.

What finger do you wear a name ring on?

Wherever you will see it most. The right-hand ring finger or middle finger is the classic spot for a personal ring that is not a wedding band; the pinky is the modern one. Mothers often wear a child's name ring stacked above their wedding band so the people come together. There is no rule — only the rule that it should not compete with an engagement ring if you wear one, which is why most women put it on the other hand.

Can I shower or sleep in my gold vermeil ring?

Sleep in it, yes. Shower in it, no. Water, sweat, perfume and hairspray are what age gold vermeil fastest, so the rule is simple: jewelry goes on last and comes off before the shower, the pool or the gym. Put it on after lotion and perfume have dried. When it is off, keep it in the pouch it came in — the pouch is anti-tarnish, not decoration. To clean it, a soft dry cloth; never jewelry dip or anything abrasive, which strips the gold. Treated this way, vermeil keeps its colour for years, which is exactly why we can put a 2-year warranty behind it.

Can a name ring be resized after it is engraved?

Not safely, which is why we ask for the exact size before we make it. Resizing stretches or cuts the band and would distort the engraving. Measure at the end of the day when fingers are largest (the how-to is in the sizing question on this page), and if you are between sizes, go up a half size — a slightly loose ring is wearable, a tight one is not.

Is a name ring a good push present or mother's ring?

It is the one she will actually wear. A baby's name on a slim band, worn above her wedding ring, says more than a bigger stone would — and it is there every time she reaches for the baby. Add the birthstone version if you want the month on it too. It arrives in our gift box with a suede pouch, ready for the hospital bag.

How long does a personalized ring take to arrive?

Most personalized orders arrive within 5 to 9 business days in the US: 3 to 5 business days for us to make it, then free USPS shipping that takes 2 to 4 days. Every personalized piece is made to order in our Miami studio — your name, stone or engraving is added before the gold goes on, so it is part of the piece, not a sticker on top. You get a tracking number the moment it ships. Because it is made for you, we cannot change spelling or size after checkout, so take one more look at the personalization before you pay. We ship worldwide; international delivery is 5 to 14 business days depending on the country, and duties are the buyer's.

How do I find my ring size at home?

Wrap a thin strip of paper around the base of the finger, mark where it overlaps, measure the length in millimetres and match it to a US ring size chart: 49 mm is a size 5, 52 mm a 6, 54 mm a 7, 57 mm an 8, 59 mm a 9. Measure at the end of the day when fingers are largest, and make sure the strip slides over the knuckle. If you already own a ring that fits, measure its inside diameter instead — 16.5 mm is a 6, 17.3 mm a 7, 18.2 mm an 8. This ring comes in US 3 to 12. Between sizes? Go up — a slightly loose ring is wearable, a tight one is not.
