Is the name engraved or cut out on a name bracelet?

Engraved on the tag and ID designs, cut out on the script designs — and the product photos show which. Engraved tags are the sturdier choice for a bracelet, because a wrist takes more knocks than a neck and a solid tag has nothing to catch. Cut-out script is finer and lighter and reads as a necklace for your wrist. Both are made to order, in whichever of the three metals you choose.

How many names fit on a name bracelet?

One on the single-tag and ID designs; up to five on our name-tag bracelets, one tag per person along the chain. If you are buying for a mother, the tag bracelet is the usual choice — she adds a tag when the family grows. Tell us the names in the order you want them read from the clasp.

Is this bracelet real gold?

It depends on the metal you pick, and only one of the three is solid gold. 14K Solid Gold is solid 14K gold all the way through, not a layer over another metal. 18K Gold Vermeil is a 3.0-micron layer of real 18K gold over solid 925 sterling silver — 15 times the 0.2-micron industry standard, and vermeil is an FTC-defined term, not a marketing word. Gold Plated is a 0.5-micron layer of 18K gold over a brass base, 2.5 times that standard. Choosing White Gold/Silver? On vermeil it is the sterling silver itself, on plated a silver-tone finish over brass, and on 14K solid white gold. Warranty: 1 year on Gold Plated, 2 years on vermeil and 14K.

What is different about 14K Solid Gold?

It is the same design, made of gold instead of finished in it. 14K means 58.5% pure gold, alloyed for strength — the standard for fine jewelry you wear every day. It is solid gold all the way through, not a layer over another metal: no base metal underneath, nothing to wear through. That is why it costs more — with vermeil and plated, the gold is a surface layer measured in microns; with 14K, the gold is the metal the piece is made of. The gold does not tarnish and does not mind the shower or sleep, and it is the one that gets handed down. 2-year warranty. Every 14K piece is made to order, so it takes 4 business days longer than vermeil or plated.

Will a name bracelet fit a small wrist or a child?

Yes. For a child or a very petite wrist, message us the wrist measurement before you order and we will make it to length rather than leaving extra chain to flap around — the chain is adjustable, and we can shorten it further on request. For everyone else, the wrist-sizing question below shows how to measure.

Can I wear a name bracelet every day?

Yes — that is what it is made for. Bracelets live closer to sinks and desks than necklaces do, so the one habit that matters is hand-washing: in 14K Solid Gold it can stay on; in 18K Gold Vermeil or Gold Plated, take it off to wash your hands properly rather than rinsing it fifty times a day. The shower, pool and sleep rules for each metal are in the care question just below. The clasp is a lobster clasp, which does not open on its own.

Can I shower or sleep in my bracelet?

It depends on the metal. 14K Solid Gold: yes to both — it is solid gold all the way through and does not tarnish, so it can stay on in the shower, in bed and every day in between. The one exception is a piece with pearls or soft natural stones: those come off before water whatever the metal. 18K Gold Vermeil: sleep in it, yes; shower, pool and gym, no. Gold Plated: off before the shower, the pool and the gym, and ideally at night too — water, sweat and perfume are what wear plating down fastest. With vermeil or plated, jewelry goes on last, after lotion and perfume have dried, and back in its anti-tarnish pouch when it comes off. Clean the metal with a soft dry cloth; never use jewelry dip or anything abrasive on vermeil or plated, which strips the finish.

What does a heart with a name or initial mean?

That the name is loved — by you, if it is your own, or by the person who gave it. A name alone is an identity; a name with a heart is an identity with someone attached. Mothers read it as the child; couples read it as each other; daughters read it as home. Whether the lettering sits on the heart or beside it, the meaning is the same.

Can the heart be engraved too?

It depends on the design, and the product photos show which kind this is. Where the name or initial is on the heart itself, it is engraved into the heart. Where the name or initial is its own piece beside the heart — a bar, a pendant or a script name — the heart is a separate charm and is not engraved: the lettering is the message and the heart is the punctuation. If you want a second letter or a date, message us before ordering and we will tell you what fits.

How long does a personalized bracelet take to arrive?

Most personalized orders arrive within 5 to 9 business days in the US: 3 to 5 business days for us to make it, then free USPS shipping that takes 2 to 4 days. In 14K Solid Gold, allow 4 more business days, so 9 to 13 in all. Your name, stone or engraving is part of the piece, not a sticker on top: on vermeil and plated it is added before the finish goes on, and on 14K it is in the solid gold itself. You get a tracking number the moment it ships. Because it is made for you, spelling and size cannot change once we start making it, so take one more look at the personalization before you pay. We ship worldwide; international delivery is 5 to 14 business days depending on the country, and duties are the buyer's.

Will this bracelet fit my wrist?

Almost certainly — it is adjustable and sized to fit the average woman's wrist with room to spare. To check, wrap a soft tape measure (or a strip of paper) snugly around the wrist bone, note the number, and add half an inch for a comfortable fit or a full inch for a loose, sliding fit; most women land between 6.5 and 7.5 inches. If you are buying for someone with a very small or very large wrist, message us before you order and we will make it to length.
