Description

A long, slim drop in 14K solid white gold: a little sprig of diamond leaves at the lobe, a pear-shaped blue sapphire in the middle, and a starburst flower of baguette and round natural diamonds at the bottom. 0.82 carats of IGI-certified natural diamond across the pair, with 0.51 carats of sapphire, and narrow enough - about 1.4 cm at the flower - to wear with a high collar as easily as with a black dress.

Every diamond in our fine jewelry is natural. Each one was formed deep within the earth, most more than a billion years ago, long before it was cut, polished and set in gold.

Many pieces that look like ours are made with lab-grown diamonds. Ours are not. Every piece in our fine jewelry collection is graded by the International Gemological Institute (IGI) and ships with its own certificate, so you never have to take our word for it.

Because each piece is crafted by master goldsmiths in Istanbul and comes directly to you, with no distributors or retail markups in between, we can offer natural diamonds at prices you would expect to pay for lab-grown.

Are these real diamonds?
Yes - every white stone is a natural mined diamond, and the pair ships with an IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate. There are 0.82 carats of diamond across the pair, a mix of round brilliants and small baguettes, graded F-G colour and SI clarity: very white stones with tiny inclusions you would need a loupe and some patience to find. Nothing here is lab-grown and nothing is a simulant.

What is the blue stone?
A pear-shaped blue sapphire, one in each earring - 0.51 carats for the pair, so about a quarter of a carat each. It sits point-up in white-gold claws in the middle of the drop, cupped by two small leaves, and it is the only colour in the piece: everything else is diamond and white gold.

Are these 14K solid gold all the way through?
Yes — solid 14K gold, no plating, no base metal, nothing to wear off. 14K means 58.5% pure gold alloyed for strength, which is the standard for fine jewelry you wear daily. It is naturally hypoallergenic, it will not tarnish, and it is the one tier in our range you can hand down without a second thought. The only thing that ever needs attention is the occasional polish.

How do they fasten?
With a straight post and a push-on butterfly back. The post sits behind the little three-leaf sprig at the top, goes through your piercing, and the butterfly slides on behind the lobe; everything else hangs straight down from there. If you can put in a stud, you can put these in.

How long are they?
About 3.7 cm from the tip of the top leaf to the bottom petal of the flower - roughly an inch and a half - and about 1.4 cm across the flower at its widest. The sprig sits on the lobe and the rest hangs below it, ending well above the jaw. Each pair is made by hand, so the size can vary very slightly.

Can I shower or sleep in them?
Showering is fine — solid 14K gold does not tarnish, has no plating to wear through and does not react to water or sweat. These sit on a post with a push-on back, so for sleeping either check the back is pushed firmly up to the lobe or take them out overnight, since a hanging shape can catch on a pillow. Soap film, lotion and hairspray dull any gold: soak them now and then in warm water with a drop of mild soap, rinse, and dry with a soft cloth.

How is the design put together?
Five parts in one slim line. At the lobe, a sprig of three pointed leaves; below it a single round diamond, then the pear sapphire between two more leaves, another round diamond, and at the bottom a diamond flower: five slim pointed petals fanning up and out, two rounder petals and one slim one pointing down. The petals are set with baguettes and round brilliants, and a few of the leaves are left as plain polished gold so the stones have something to shine against. The two earrings are mirror images of each other.

Are they an everyday earring?
They are happiest with a black dress or a high collar, but slim enough to wear to the office if your office allows a little sparkle. Solid 14K white gold does not tarnish. Claw settings like a little care: take them out to sleep and before sport, keep hairspray and lotion off them, and now and then give them a gentle wash in warm, mildly soapy water with a soft brush between the petals. A jeweller can check the claws once a year.

How long does this earring take to arrive?

Are these earrings good for sensitive ears?
Yes. The part that touches your piercing is sterling silver (under 18K gold vermeil), 316L surgical steel, or solid 14K gold depending on the tier you choose — all three are nickel-safe and the same metals piercing studios use for fresh piercings. The reaction most people blame on "gold earrings" is actually nickel or brass in cheap posts, and there is none in ours. If your ears are very reactive, choose the 18K gold vermeil or solid gold option and wipe the posts with a little rubbing alcohol before the first wear.
