Description

A single round natural diamond of about 0.61 carat, held high in six slim claws that each finish in a small polished bead — the classic six-prong solitaire, in solid 14K white gold. The head rises from a small open basket that lets light into the stone from the sides, and the band is plain, flat-topped and square-edged, so nothing competes with the diamond. E–F colour, SI clarity, IGI certified, and made to order in your size.

Questions, answered

Everything people ask before they buy this rings.

Is the diamond real, and is it really 0.61 carat?

Yes — one natural mined diamond of about 0.61 carat, EF colour and SI clarity, and it ships with an IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate, so none of that is taken on trust. Every ring is made by hand, so the weight can move a hair either way; the certificate is the final word on your stone. Nothing here is cubic zirconia, moissanite or lab-grown.

Why six claws instead of four?

Six claws hold a round diamond at six points instead of four, so the stone stays put even if one claw is ever knocked, and from above the outline reads as a true circle rather than a square. Each claw finishes in a small polished bead that sits just over the edge of the diamond, and the head rises from a small open basket that lets light into the stone from the sides. It is the setting jewellers reach for when the brief is simply: a round diamond, and nothing in the way.

Are these 14K solid gold all the way through?

Yes — solid 14K gold, no plating, no base metal, nothing to wear off. 14K means 58.5% pure gold alloyed for strength, which is the standard for fine jewelry you wear daily. It is naturally hypoallergenic, it will not tarnish, and it is the one tier in our range you can hand down without a second thought. The only thing that ever needs attention is the occasional polish.

Can this be an engagement ring?

It is the ring most people picture when they hear the word: one round diamond raised in six claws on a plain band, with room beside it for a wedding ring later. Nothing about it will date, which is rather the point. It works just as well as an anniversary ring, or as the ring you buy yourself.

What do EF colour and SI clarity mean in practice?

EF sits at the very top of the colour scale, a step from colourless: the diamond faces up icy white, and white gold keeps it looking that way. SI (slightly included) means small natural inclusions that a grader finds under 10x magnification; at the distance anyone actually looks at a ring, they are not what you see. Top colour with a sensible clarity is where the brightness-for-money sits.

Can I wear a solid gold ring in the shower and to sleep?

Yes to both. Solid 14K gold does not tarnish, has no plating to wear through and does not react to water or sweat, so this is the ring you put on and forget about. Soap film and lotion will dull any gold over time — a soak in warm water with a drop of dish soap, then a soft cloth, brings the shine back in a minute. Take it off for the gym and heavy lifting: gold is a soft metal, and a ring is the piece that takes the knocks.

How do I get the size right, and can I return it?

Each ring is made to your size after you order, so it is final sale — returns and exchanges are not accepted. Measure before you order: wrap a strip of paper round the base of the finger, mark where it meets, measure the length in millimetres and match it to a US size chart (about 52 mm is a 6, 54 mm a 7). Measure at the end of the day when your hands are at their largest, and size to the knuckle if yours is wide. If it arrives damaged or not as ordered, contact us within 7 days and we will put it right.

Can I wear it every day?

Yes, with the ordinary care any raised solitaire wants. Solid 14K gold does not tarnish and has no plating to wear off. A raised six-claw head can catch on fine knits, so turn the stone to your palm when you pull on a sweater. Take it off for the gym, for cleaning and for the pool — chlorine is hard on the alloy — and wash it now and then in warm water with a drop of dish soap, brushing gently under the stone. Have the six claws checked every couple of years, as you would with any ring that holds one stone.

How long does this rings take to arrive?

This rings is made to order in your size, so please allow 2 to 3 weeks for us to finish it before it ships. Once it ships, free standard USPS shipping takes 2 to 4 business days in the US, and you get a tracking number by email the moment it is on its way. Because it is made for you, we cannot change the size after checkout, so take one more look at your size before you pay. It arrives in our signature gift box with a suede pouch. We ship worldwide; international delivery runs 5 to 14 business days depending on the destination, and any customs duties are the buyer's.

How do I find my ring size at home?

Wrap a thin strip of paper around the base of the finger, mark where it overlaps, measure the length in millimetres and match it to a US ring size chart: 49 mm is a size 5, 52 mm a 6, 54 mm a 7, 57 mm an 8, 59 mm a 9. Measure at the end of the day when fingers are largest, and make sure the strip slides over the knuckle. If you already own a ring that fits, measure its inside diameter instead — 16.5 mm is a 6, 17.3 mm a 7, 18.2 mm an 8. Between sizes? Go up — a slightly loose ring is wearable, a tight one is not.
