Description

These huggie hoop earrings set a single row of round natural diamonds into a small hoop of 14K solid white gold. Each round brilliant sits in its own V-shaped basket with the claws shared between neighbours, so from the front the hoop reads as one clean line of separate sparkles and from the side the band shows a crisp zigzag of polished gold. Small enough for every day, finished with a hinged post that clicks shut; 0.72 carat in total, EF colour, SI clarity, IGI certified.

Are these real diamonds?
Yes - every stone is a natural mined diamond, and the pair ships with an IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate. There is 0.72 carat of diamond in total across the pair, graded E-F colour and SI clarity: near-colourless stones whose tiny inclusions stay out of sight without a loupe and some patience. Nothing here is lab-grown and nothing is a simulant.

How do they fasten?
With a hinged post. A slim post at the top of the hoop swings open, you pass it through your piercing, and it clicks shut into a small latch on the other side. There is no separate back to lose behind the sink, so they go in quickly, even without a mirror, and they stay put.

Are these 14K solid gold all the way through?
Yes — solid 14K gold, no plating, no base metal, nothing to wear off. 14K means 58.5% pure gold alloyed for strength, which is the standard for fine jewelry you wear daily. It is naturally hypoallergenic, it will not tarnish, and it is the one tier in our range you can hand down without a second thought. The only thing that ever needs attention is the occasional polish.

How big are they?
Small and close-fitting: about 13 to 14 mm across the outside, roughly the size of a shirt button, with a slim diamond face of about 2 mm. On the ear they read as a fine column of light running from the piercing down over the front of the lobe and finishing just below it. Made by hand, so each pair can vary very slightly.

How are the diamonds set?
In a single row of round brilliant diamonds, each sitting in its own small V-shaped basket of polished white gold, with the claws shared between neighbouring stones. From the front the row is one continuous line of separate sparkles; from the side, the baskets give the band a crisp zigzag edge that catches the light every time you turn your head.

Can I shower or sleep in solid gold hoops?
Showering is fine - solid 14K gold does not tarnish, has no plating to wear through and does not react to water or sweat. Sleeping is fine too, which is one of the quiet advantages of a huggie: the hinge clicks shut, nothing dangles, and there is no butterfly back to work its way off against a pillow. Soap film, lotion and hairspray dull any gold, so soak them now and then in warm water with a drop of mild soap, rinse, and dry with a soft cloth - and pay attention to the hinge and the inside of the band, where residue collects out of sight.

Will they feel heavy or pull on my piercing?
No. A slim hoop of this size carries very little gold, and it sits close to the lobe instead of swinging from it, so there is no steady pull on the piercing - the usual cause of a stretched hole. Most people stop noticing them within the hour, which is rather the point.

Can I wear them every day?
That is what they are for. Solid 14K white gold does not tarnish or turn your skin green, the hinged post clicks shut so nothing works loose, and there is nothing dangling to catch on a scarf or a collar. Now and then give them a gentle wash in warm, mildly soapy water with a soft brush, paying attention to the baskets behind the stones, where lotion and hairspray like to hide.

Are these earrings good for sensitive ears?
Yes. The part that touches your piercing is sterling silver (under 18K gold vermeil), 316L surgical steel, or solid 14K gold depending on the tier you choose — all three are nickel-safe and the same metals piercing studios use for fresh piercings. The reaction most people blame on "gold earrings" is actually nickel or brass in cheap posts, and there is none in ours. If your ears are very reactive, choose the 18K gold vermeil or solid gold option and wipe the posts with a little rubbing alcohol before the first wear.
