Description

These round stud earrings set 0.65 carat of natural diamonds in a double halo of 14K solid white gold. In each one, a round brilliant on four claws is ringed by a first halo of small round diamonds, a fine recessed groove and a second, wider halo, so the centre stone reads larger and brighter than it would on its own. Worn on a straight post with butterfly backs; EF colour, VS-SI clarity, IGI certified.

Every diamond in our fine jewelry is natural. Each one was formed deep within the earth, most more than a billion years ago, long before it was cut, polished and set in gold.

Many pieces that look like ours are made with lab-grown diamonds. Ours are not. Every piece in our fine jewelry collection is graded by the International Gemological Institute (IGI) and ships with its own certificate, so you never have to take our word for it.

Because each piece is crafted by master goldsmiths in Istanbul and comes directly to you, with no distributors or retail markups in between, we can offer natural diamonds at prices you would expect to pay for lab-grown.

Are these real diamonds?
Yes - every stone is a natural mined diamond, and the pair ships with an IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate. There is 0.65 carat of diamond across the pair, graded EF colour and VS to SI clarity: near-colourless, with inclusions you would need a loupe and some determination to find. Nothing here is lab-grown and nothing is a simulant.

What does double halo mean?
Each earring has a round brilliant in the centre on four claws, ringed by a first halo of small round diamonds, then a fine recessed groove, then a second, wider halo. The two rings catch light independently, so the centre stone reads larger and brighter than it would on its own. The 0.65 carat on this page is the real combined weight of every diamond in the pair, not the size the halos make it look.

Are these 14K solid gold all the way through?
Yes — solid 14K gold, no plating, no base metal, nothing to wear off. 14K means 58.5% pure gold alloyed for strength, which is the standard for fine jewelry you wear daily. It is naturally hypoallergenic, it will not tarnish, and it is the one tier in our range you can hand down without a second thought. The only thing that ever needs attention is the occasional polish.

How big are they?
About 9 mm across - a little over a third of an inch, slightly smaller than a shirt button. On most ears that covers a little under half the width of the lobe, sitting on the soft part with skin showing all round. Visible across a dinner table, still very much a stud. Made by hand, so each pair can vary very slightly.

What kind of back do they have?
A straight post with a push-on butterfly back, the fitting most people already use for studs: quick to put in, nothing to unscrew. Push the butterfly all the way up to the lobe so the stud sits flat and faces forward. If you would rather have screw backs for peace of mind, message us before you order and we will ask the workshop.

Can I shower or sleep in solid gold studs?
Showering is fine — solid 14K gold does not tarnish, has no plating to wear through and does not react to water or sweat. For sleeping, these have push-on butterfly backs rather than screw backs, so check the back is pushed firmly up to the lobe, or take them out overnight if you move about a lot. Soap film, lotion and hairspray dull any gold: soak them now and then in warm water with a drop of mild soap, rinse, and dry with a soft cloth. Pay attention to the back of the cluster, where residue collects.

Are they too much for every day?
Not really. A round stud is the most wearable shape there is, and this one sits flat and close to the lobe with nothing to swing or snag on a scarf. The double halo gives it evening sparkle, but in daylight it reads as one bright, round point of light rather than a statement. Office, dinner, wedding: it does not need an occasion.

Is the centre stone secure?
The centre diamond is held by four claws and every halo stone sits in its own small claws, so nothing is glued. As with any claw setting, avoid knocking them against hard surfaces and have a jeweller look at the claws once a year. Take them out for the gym and the pool, and they will outlast most of what you own.

How long does this earring take to arrive?

Are these earrings good for sensitive ears?
Yes. The part that touches your piercing is sterling silver (under 18K gold vermeil), 316L surgical steel, or solid 14K gold depending on the tier you choose — all three are nickel-safe and the same metals piercing studios use for fresh piercings. The reaction most people blame on "gold earrings" is actually nickel or brass in cheap posts, and there is none in ours. If your ears are very reactive, choose the 18K gold vermeil or solid gold option and wipe the posts with a little rubbing alcohol before the first wear.
