Description

These drop earrings hang a disc of light from a line of diamonds. A slim bar of 14K solid rose gold, set with a single row of natural diamonds, runs down the front of the lobe; at its foot a small diamond-set link carries a round disc paved edge to edge with natural round brilliant diamonds inside a fine polished rim, so it sways and catches the light every time you turn your head. Compact enough for every day, secured with a hinged lever back; 0.72 carat in total, F–G colour, SI clarity, IGI certified.

Every diamond in our fine jewelry is natural. Each one was formed deep within the earth, most more than a billion years ago, long before it was cut, polished and set in gold.

Many pieces that look like ours are made with lab-grown diamonds. Ours are not. Every piece in our fine jewelry collection is graded by the International Gemological Institute (IGI) and ships with its own certificate, so you never have to take our word for it.

Because each piece is crafted by master goldsmiths in Istanbul and comes directly to you, with no distributors or retail markups in between, we can offer natural diamonds at prices you would expect to pay for lab-grown.

Are these real diamonds?
Yes - every stone is a natural mined diamond, and the pair ships with an IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate. There are 0.72 carats of diamond across the pair, graded F-G colour and SI clarity: bright, near-colourless round brilliants whose small inclusions need a loupe to find. Nothing here is lab-grown and nothing is a simulant, down to the smallest stone on the bar.

How do they fasten?
With a hinged lever back. The diamond bar at the front carries the post that goes through your piercing, and a polished lever behind the lobe swings up and clicks shut over the end of it - no separate back to drop down the sink. Once it clicks, the bar sits flat down the front of the lobe and the disc hangs just below.

Are these 14K solid gold all the way through?
Yes — solid 14K gold, no plating, no base metal, nothing to wear off. 14K means 58.5% pure gold alloyed for strength, which is the standard for fine jewelry you wear daily. It is naturally hypoallergenic, it will not tarnish, and it is the one tier in our range you can hand down without a second thought. The only thing that ever needs attention is the occasional polish.

How big are they?
About 2 cm (just under 3/4 inch) from the top of the bar to the bottom of the disc, and the disc itself is about 1.1 cm across - roughly the size of a small shirt button. On most ears the bar runs down the front of the lobe and the whole disc hangs just below it. These figures are estimated from photographs of the piece being worn, and each pair is made by hand, so measurements can vary slightly.

How is the disc set?
Edge to edge. About forty round brilliant diamonds sit in their own small claws inside a thin polished rose-gold rim, in loose rings around a single centre stone, so the face of the disc is almost all diamond and very little metal. Above it, a straight bar carries a single row of small diamonds, and a little diamond-set link joins the two, which is what lets the disc move.

Can I wear solid gold drop earrings in the shower or to sleep?
A quick shower will not hurt solid 14K gold: it does not tarnish, has no plating to wear through and does not react to water. We still suggest taking drop earrings off to sleep, because a hanging piece can catch on pillows and bend the lever-back over time. Soap film, lotion and hairspray dull any gold, so soak them now and then in warm water with a drop of mild soap, rinse, and dry with a soft cloth to keep every facet bright.

Will they pull on my piercing?
Not much. The disc is compact and hangs close to the lobe on a short link rather than at the end of a long chain, and the lever back holds the post snugly, so the weight stays near the piercing and the disc sways a little instead of tugging. If your piercings are sensitive, give them a day or two to get used to any new drop.

Are they day earrings or evening earrings?
Both, which is rather the point: with a turtleneck and a blazer they look considered, with your hair up at night they do most of the talking. The solid 14K rose gold will not tarnish. The disc is a drop, though, so take them off for sleep, sport and swimming, keep it away from fine knitwear, and give the pave a soak in warm, mildly soapy water and a soft brush now and then to keep it bright.

How long does this earring take to arrive?

Are these earrings good for sensitive ears?
Yes. The part that touches your piercing is sterling silver (under 18K gold vermeil), 316L surgical steel, or solid 14K gold depending on the tier you choose — all three are nickel-safe and the same metals piercing studios use for fresh piercings. The reaction most people blame on "gold earrings" is actually nickel or brass in cheap posts, and there is none in ours. If your ears are very reactive, choose the 18K gold vermeil or solid gold option and wipe the posts with a little rubbing alcohol before the first wear.
