I love these earrings! I was a little confused at first, but then figured it out on my own. Will definitely be ordering more.

Earrings were so small it looked like it was for a child but when I looked back at the photo it was the same size letters but the name was longer. Can I get a different letter on each ear?

Yes. Order the pair and tell us both letters — yours and theirs, or the two initials of one name. Most women put their first initial on the left and last initial on the right, the way a name reads, but it is your ear. If you want the same letter twice, just say so.

Do name earrings come as a pair or a single?

As a pair, unless the option on this page says otherwise. Several of our earring designs can be bought as a single for one ear — useful if you want one statement letter in a second piercing and a plain stud beside it. Check the option box above; if it offers "Singles (for 1 ear)", the single is available.

Is this earring real gold?

Yes — it is 18K gold vermeil: a thick layer of real 18K gold bonded over solid 925 sterling silver. Vermeil is an FTC-defined standard, not a marketing word, and ours uses a gold layer at least five times thicker than standard plating. Under it is sterling silver, which is hypoallergenic and worth something on its own. You can also choose the Prestige Gold option (the same 18K gold over a brass core) if you want the look for less and wear it less often. Every vermeil piece is covered by our 2-year warranty.

Are name earrings heavy?

No. A script name is cut thin and a pavé initial is small, so the weight is closer to a stud than a hoop; you will forget them by the second hour. The posts are sterling silver under the gold (or the polished sterling itself if you choose Silver), so they are kind to sensitive ears.

Can I choose the font on name earrings?

On the script name earrings, the font is the one in the photo, sized to the ear — very ornate scripts do not read at earring scale, so we use the one that does. On the Old English name earrings, the lettering is the point. On the pavé initial earrings, the letter is a clean block outlined in stones. If you need a specific style, message us before ordering and we will tell you what will and will not read at that size.

Can I shower or sleep in my gold vermeil earring?

Sleep in it, yes. Shower in it, no. Water, sweat, perfume and hairspray are what age gold vermeil fastest, so the rule is simple: jewelry goes on last and comes off before the shower, the pool or the gym. Put it on after lotion and perfume have dried. When it is off, keep it in the pouch it came in — the pouch is anti-tarnish, not decoration. To clean it, a soft dry cloth; never jewelry dip or anything abrasive, which strips the gold. Treated this way, vermeil keeps its colour for years, which is exactly why we can put a 2-year warranty behind it.

Are initial earrings in style?

Yes — the single letter on the ear is the current way to wear a monogram, because it is personal without being a nameplate. Worn as a pair they read as a set; worn as one letter in a second piercing beside a plain huggie, they read as styled. They go with a name necklace, but do not need one.

Are name earrings a good gift for a teenager or a bridesmaid?

Yes. For a teenager, one initial in a second piercing is the first piece of personalized jewelry that does not feel childish. For bridesmaids, a matching pavé initial for each woman — her own letter — is a set that is both uniform and personal. They arrive in our gift box with a suede pouch.

How long does a personalized earring take to arrive?

Most personalized orders arrive within 5 to 9 business days in the US: 3 to 5 business days for us to make it, then free USPS shipping that takes 2 to 4 days. Every personalized piece is made to order in our Miami studio — your name, stone or engraving is added before the gold goes on, so it is part of the piece, not a sticker on top. You get a tracking number the moment it ships. Because it is made for you, we cannot change spelling or size after checkout, so take one more look at the personalization before you pay. We ship worldwide; international delivery is 5 to 14 business days depending on the country, and duties are the buyer's.

Are these earrings good for sensitive ears?

Yes. The part that touches your piercing is sterling silver (under 18K gold vermeil), 316L surgical steel, or solid 14K gold depending on the tier you choose — all three are nickel-safe and the same metals piercing studios use for fresh piercings. The reaction most people blame on "gold earrings" is actually nickel or brass in cheap posts, and there is none in ours. If your ears are very reactive, choose the 18K gold vermeil or solid gold option and wipe the posts with a little rubbing alcohol before the first wear.
