Description

A deliberately mismatched pair of natural diamond earrings in 14K solid white gold. On one ear, a slim navette bar of eleven graduated diamonds swings at the end of a fine chain, with a soft S-curve of polished wire falling behind it; on the other, the same diamond bar sits close to the lobe as a stud. Long on one side, quiet on the other. 0.76 carats in all, IGI certified.

Made for You

These earrings are handcrafted to order. Please allow up to 15 business days for production before they ship.

Care

Store the two pieces apart from other jewellery so the fine chain doesn't tangle. Clean them with a little mild soap in warm water and a soft brush along the diamond bars, then dry with a soft cloth. Put them on after perfume, lotion and hairspray, and take the threader out to sleep.

Questions, answered

Everything people ask before they buy this earrings.

Are these real diamonds?

Yes - every stone is a natural mined diamond, and the set ships with an IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate. There is 0.76 carat of diamond in total across the two pieces, all round brilliant cut, graded F-G colour and SI clarity: near-colourless stones with tiny inclusions you would need a loupe and some patience to find. Nothing here is lab-grown and nothing is a simulant.

Why don't the two earrings match?

On purpose. One is a threader: a fine chain with a slim navette bar of diamonds at the end, and a curved wire that falls behind it. The other is the same diamond bar as a stud. Worn together they make an asymmetric line - long on one side, close on the other - which is rather the point. Worn apart, the stud is the everyday piece and the threader is the evening one.

Are these 14K solid gold all the way through?

Yes — solid 14K gold, no plating, no base metal, nothing to wear off. 14K means 58.5% pure gold alloyed for strength, which is the standard for fine jewelry you wear daily. It is naturally hypoallergenic, it will not tarnish, and it is the one tier in our range you can hand down without a second thought. The only thing that ever needs attention is the occasional polish.

How does the threader go in?

Feed the plain end of the curved wire through your piercing from the front and draw it through until the small cap at the top of the chain rests against the front of the lobe. The chain and the diamond bar hang in front; the soft S-curve of wire hangs behind, and its own length and shape keep it in place. No back and no clasp to fiddle with. The stud is a straight post with a push-on butterfly back.

How long is the threader?

About 6.5 cm from the piercing to the tip of the diamond bar - roughly two and a half inches - so the bar swings on the side of the neck, below the line of the jaw. The bar itself is about 2.5 cm long and only about 3 mm wide, and the stud is the same bar. Each set is made by hand, so measurements can vary very slightly.

Can I shower or sleep in a threader?

A quick shower will not hurt solid 14K gold: it does not tarnish, has no plating to wear through and does not react to water. A threader has no back - its own length and curve hold it in the piercing - so take it out to sleep and before pulling clothes over your head, where the chain can catch. If your set includes a stud, check its butterfly back is pushed firmly up to the lobe. Soap film, lotion and hairspray dull any gold: soak them now and then in warm water with a drop of mild soap, rinse, and dry with a soft cloth.

How many diamonds are there?

Eleven round brilliant diamonds in each navette bar, set in a single line and graduated from tiny at the two points to the largest in the middle, inside a white-gold frame with a fine beaded milgrain edge. That is twenty-two across the pair. The shape does the elegance; the graduation is what makes it read as one long line of light rather than a row of dots.

Can I wear them every day?

The stud, easily. The threader is light but long, so it is better kept for days when you are not pulling sweaters over your head: take it out to sleep, and before anything with a tight neckline. Solid 14K white gold has no plating to wear through and does not tarnish. Now and then give both a gentle wash in warm, mildly soapy water with a soft brush along the diamond bar, where lotion and hairspray like to settle.

How long does this earrings take to arrive?

It is handcrafted to order, so please allow up to 15 business days for it to be made before it ships. Once it ships, free standard USPS shipping takes 2 to 4 business days in the US, and you get a tracking number by email the moment it is on its way. Made-to-order pieces cannot be changed after checkout, so take one more look at your choices before you pay. It arrives in our signature gift box with a suede pouch. We ship worldwide; international delivery runs 5 to 14 business days depending on the destination, and any customs duties are the buyer's.

Are these earrings good for sensitive ears?

Yes. The part that touches your piercing is sterling silver (under 18K gold vermeil), 316L surgical steel, or solid 14K gold depending on the tier you choose — all three are nickel-safe and the same metals piercing studios use for fresh piercings. The reaction most people blame on "gold earrings" is actually nickel or brass in cheap posts, and there is none in ours. If your ears are very reactive, choose the 18K gold vermeil or solid gold option and wipe the posts with a little rubbing alcohol before the first wear.
