Description

A natural diamond starburst cocktail ring in solid 14K white gold: sixteen slim rays, long and short in turn, burst out from a small raised cluster of round brilliants. The long rays are set with baguettes and finished in polished points, so the star flashes in long strips of light as well as sparkling. It is wider than the finger it sits on, and it is meant to be noticed.

Made for You

This ring is handcrafted to order in your size. Please allow up to 15 business days for production before it ships. Because it is made to your size, it is final sale.

Care

Take it off for the gym, gardening and the pool, and put it on after you dress — pointed rays can catch on fine knits. Wash it now and then in warm water with a drop of mild soap, brushing gently between the rays, and dry it with a soft cloth. Have the claws checked every year or so.

Questions, answered

Everything people ask before they buy this rings.

Are the diamonds real, and how much diamond is there?

Yes — every stone in it is a natural mined diamond: about 0.45 carat in total, made up of two parcels graded separately — about 0.21 ct in F–G colour, VS–SI clarity, and about 0.24 ct in F–G colour, SI clarity. The ring ships with an IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate, so none of that is taken on trust. Each ring is made by hand, so the weight can move a little either way; the certificate is the final word on your stones. Nothing here is cubic zirconia, moissanite or lab-grown.

What exactly is in the star?

At the centre sits a small raised cluster of seven round brilliant diamonds, ringed by smaller rounds. Sixteen rays come out of it, long and short in turn. Each of the eight long rays carries a round diamond at its base, one long slim baguette and a tiny round near the end, and finishes in a polished point; the two that run along the band end in flat polished blades that lead into the shank. The eight short rays between them each hold a small tapered baguette. The mix is the point: the baguettes flash in long strips, the brilliants sparkle, so the star changes every time your hand moves.

Are these 14K solid gold all the way through?

Yes — solid 14K gold, no plating, no base metal, nothing to wear off. 14K means 58.5% pure gold alloyed for strength, which is the standard for fine jewelry you wear daily. It is naturally hypoallergenic, it will not tarnish, and it is the one tier in our range you can hand down without a second thought. The only thing that ever needs attention is the occasional polish.

How big does it look on the hand?

It is a cocktail ring, and it wears like one: the star is wider than the finger it sits on, and its points reach over the edges of the fingers either side, as you can see on the hands in the photos on this page. Because every ring is finished by hand we do not quote millimetres for the head — the 360° video shows its height and profile from every side.

Will the points catch on things?

They can, the way any star or flower with pointed tips can: loose knits, fine silk, lace and tights are the usual suspects. Put it on after you dress and take it off before pulling on gloves or a sweater. The star sits low and flat on the finger, and the band widens into flat shoulders underneath it, which gives the head a steady base and keeps it from rolling to one side.

Can I wear a solid gold ring in the shower and to sleep?

Yes to both. Solid 14K gold does not tarnish, has no plating to wear through and does not react to water or sweat, so this is the ring you put on and forget about. Soap film and lotion will dull any gold over time — a soak in warm water with a drop of dish soap, then a soft cloth, brings the shine back in a minute. Take it off for the gym and heavy lifting: gold is a soft metal, and a ring is the piece that takes the knocks.

How do I get the size right, and can I return it?

Each ring is made to your size after you order, so it is final sale — returns and exchanges are not accepted. Measure before you order: wrap a strip of paper round the base of the finger, mark where it meets, measure the length in millimetres and match it to a US size chart (about 52 mm is a 6, 54 mm a 7). Measure at the end of the day when your hands are at their largest, and size to the knuckle if yours is wide. A wide head like this one sits most comfortably on a ring that is snug rather than loose. If it arrives damaged or not as ordered, contact us within 7 days and we will put it right.

Can I wear it every day?

You can, with the care any claw-set ring wants. Solid 14K gold does not tarnish and has no plating to wear off. Take it off for the gym, gardening, cleaning and the pool — chlorine is hard on the alloy and knocks are hard on small claws — and wash it now and then in warm water with a drop of dish soap and a soft brush, working in between the rays where lotion collects. Have the claws checked about once a year; a star carrying this many stones deserves it. Most people save it for evenings, and nobody stops them wearing it to the supermarket.

How long does this rings take to arrive?

This rings is made to order in your size, so please allow 2 to 3 weeks for us to finish it before it ships. Once it ships, free standard USPS shipping takes 2 to 4 business days in the US, and you get a tracking number by email the moment it is on its way. Because it is made for you, we cannot change the size after checkout, so take one more look at your size before you pay. It arrives in our signature gift box with a suede pouch. We ship worldwide; international delivery runs 5 to 14 business days depending on the destination, and any customs duties are the buyer's.

How do I find my ring size at home?

Wrap a thin strip of paper around the base of the finger, mark where it overlaps, measure the length in millimetres and match it to a US ring size chart: 49 mm is a size 5, 52 mm a 6, 54 mm a 7, 57 mm an 8, 59 mm a 9. Measure at the end of the day when fingers are largest, and make sure the strip slides over the knuckle. If you already own a ring that fits, measure its inside diameter instead — 16.5 mm is a 6, 17.3 mm a 7, 18.2 mm an 8. Between sizes? Go up — a slightly loose ring is wearable, a tight one is not.
