Is the diamond real, and is it really 0.60 carat?
Yes — one natural mined diamond of about 0.60 carat, F–G colour and SI clarity, and it ships with an IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate, so none of that is taken on trust. Every ring is made by hand, so the weight can move a hair either way; the certificate is the final word on your stone. Nothing here is cubic zirconia, moissanite or lab-grown.

Can this be an engagement ring?
It is the shape most people picture when they hear the word: one round diamond raised in four claws on a plain band, with room beside it for a wedding ring later. The petal claws are its one quiet signature — from across the table it reads as a classic solitaire, up close as something a little more considered. It works just as well as an anniversary ring, or as the ring you buy yourself.

Are these 14K solid gold all the way through?
Yes — solid 14K gold, no plating, no base metal, nothing to wear off. 14K means 58.5% pure gold alloyed for strength, which is the standard for fine jewelry you wear daily. It is naturally hypoallergenic, it will not tarnish, and it is the one tier in our range you can hand down without a second thought. The only thing that ever needs attention is the occasional polish.

What are the petal claws?
Each of the four claws finishes in a flat, polished leaf of white gold instead of the usual small round bead. The leaves lie over the edge of the diamond and point outward, so from above the stone sits in a little four-petal flower of metal. They grip the diamond just as securely as round claws, catch less on knitwear, and give the setting a clean, sculpted outline. Underneath, the claws rise from a slim V-shaped basket that lets light into the stone from the sides.

What do F–G colour and SI clarity mean in practice?
F–G sits near the top of the colour scale: the diamond faces up bright white, with no yellow you would notice in daylight, and white gold keeps it looking that way. SI (slightly included) means small natural inclusions that a grader finds under 10x magnification; at the distance anyone actually looks at a ring, they are not what you see. It is where most of the sparkle-for-money sits — the budget goes into size and brightness rather than into details only a loupe can find.

Can I wear a solid gold ring in the shower and to sleep?
Yes to both. Solid 14K gold does not tarnish, has no plating to wear through and does not react to water or sweat, so this is the ring you put on and forget about. Soap film and lotion will dull any gold over time — a soak in warm water with a drop of dish soap, then a soft cloth, brings the shine back in a minute. Take it off for the gym and heavy lifting: gold is a soft metal, and a ring is the piece that takes the knocks.

How do I get the size right, and can I return it?
Each ring is made to your size after you order, so it is final sale — returns and exchanges are not accepted. Measure before you order: wrap a strip of paper round the base of the finger, mark where it meets, measure the length in millimetres and match it to a US size chart (about 52 mm is a 6, 54 mm a 7). Measure at the end of the day when your hands are at their largest, and size to the knuckle if yours is wide. If it arrives damaged or not as ordered, contact us within 7 days and we will put it right.

Can I wear it every day?
Yes, with the ordinary care any raised solitaire wants. Solid 14K gold does not tarnish and has no plating to wear off. Take it off for the gym, for cleaning and for the pool — chlorine is hard on the alloy — and wash it now and then in warm water with a drop of dish soap, brushing gently under the stone, where the lotion that dulls a diamond collects. Have the four claws checked every couple of years, as you would with any ring that holds one stone.

How do I find my ring size at home?
Wrap a thin strip of paper around the base of the finger, mark where it overlaps, measure the length in millimetres and match it to a US ring size chart: 49 mm is a size 5, 52 mm a 6, 54 mm a 7, 57 mm an 8, 59 mm a 9. Measure at the end of the day when fingers are largest, and make sure the strip slides over the knuckle. If you already own a ring that fits, measure its inside diameter instead — 16.5 mm is a 6, 17.3 mm a 7, 18.2 mm an 8. Between sizes? Go up — a slightly loose ring is wearable, a tight one is not.
