Description

A natural diamond bypass cuff in solid 18K white gold, its two arms set with baguette diamonds framed in round brilliants. Down the middle of each arm runs a channel of slim baguettes set upright side by side; a border of small round diamonds outlines it on both edges and around the squared end, giving the strip a softly scalloped, glittering edge. On the wrist the two diamond ends meet side by side on top - 3.46 carats of natural diamonds in all. It opens on a hinge in the side of the band, so there is no clasp and nothing to squeeze over the hand.

Care

Open the cuff on its hinge to put it on and take it off - never pull the two ends apart. Take it off for sport and gardening, store it in its own pouch so the diamonds cannot scratch other pieces, and clean it now and then with a little mild soap in warm water and a soft brush, then dry with a soft cloth.

Every diamond in our fine jewelry is natural. Each one was formed deep within the earth, most more than a billion years ago, long before it was cut, polished and set in gold.

Many pieces that look like ours are made with lab-grown diamonds. Ours are not. Every piece in our fine jewelry collection is graded by the International Gemological Institute (IGI) and ships with its own certificate, so you never have to take our word for it.

Because each piece is crafted by master goldsmiths in Istanbul and comes directly to you, with no distributors or retail markups in between, we can offer natural diamonds at prices you would expect to pay for lab-grown.

Are these real diamonds?
Yes - every stone is a natural mined diamond, 3.46 carats in all (a 2.48 ct lot and a 0.98 ct lot), F-G colour and SI clarity. The cuff ships with an IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate. Nothing here is cubic zirconia, moissanite or lab-grown.

How is the design put together?
Each of the two arms is a strip of diamonds: a channel of slim baguettes set upright side by side down the middle, framed along both edges and round the squared end by a border of small round brilliants, which gives the outline its gently scalloped edge. On the wrist the two ends sit side by side on top, slightly offset, so the strips look as if they are passing each other. The underside of the band is smooth polished white gold, with a lattice pattern on the inside.

Are these 18K solid gold all the way through?
Yes — solid 18K gold, no plating, no base metal, nothing to wear off. 18K is 75% pure gold, where the 14K most fine jewellery is made from is 58.5%, so this is a step up in purity and in price. It is naturally hypoallergenic, it will not tarnish, and it is the one tier in our range you can hand down without a second thought. The one trade-off for the extra gold is that 18K is slightly softer than 14K, so it marks a little more easily. The only thing that ever needs attention is the occasional polish.

Is it a cuff or a bangle?
A little of both: it is a rigid bangle with an open front - the two diamond ends sit side by side on top of the wrist instead of joining - and a hinge in the side of the band. It opens on the hinge to go on, so there is no clasp to fasten and nothing to squeeze over your hand.

How do I get the size right?
A rigid cuff is sized by its inside, so the fit matters more than with a chain. Measure your wrist just above the wrist bone with a soft tape or a strip of paper and add the measurement to the order note, and we make it to that wrist. If you are between sizes, tell us whether you like it close or a little loose.

Can I shower or sleep in a solid gold diamond cuff?
A quick shower will not hurt solid 18K gold: it does not tarnish and does not react to water. We still suggest taking a diamond cuff off to sleep and for sport, because the wrist is the part of you that knocks into things, and a knock is what loosens a claw. 18K is richer in gold and so a little softer than lower karats: always open it on its hinge to put it on or take it off, never by pulling the two ends apart, and store it on its own, away from harder pieces. Soap film and hand cream dull diamonds quickly, so soak it in warm water with a drop of mild soap, brush gently under the stones with a soft toothbrush, rinse, and dry with a soft cloth.

Why baguettes and round diamonds together?
Baguettes are step cut: long, flat facets that flash in clean, mirror-like planes rather than sparkle. Framing them with round brilliants puts the sparkle back at the edges, so each strip reads as a crisp ribbon of light with a softly glittering outline - the architecture of baguettes without giving up the twinkle. Which is a long way of saying it catches the light from every angle.

Can I wear it every day?
You can, within reason. Solid 18K white gold does not tarnish, but gold this rich is a little softer than lower-karat gold, and the corners of a baguette are the most exposed part of the stone, so take it off for the gym, gardening and anything involving a hammer. Open it on the hinge rather than pulling the two ends apart. A wash now and then in warm water with a drop of mild soap and a soft brush keeps the stones bright.

What size should I choose?
This bangle is made to order, so it can be made to fit. A bangle is sized by its inside, not by its length: wrap a soft tape measure (or a strip of paper) snugly round your wrist just above the wrist bone and note the measurement. Because it opens on a hinge it does not have to slide over your hand, so it can sit closer than a slip-on bangle - just loose enough to turn on the wrist.
