I bought two necklaces written beautifully with both of my children’s names however they are both now broken after having them for about a month. Pricey products typically mean better quality, not in this case. I’m very disappointed and wouldn’t recommended this seller to anyone. I placed a custom order for two different names on two different pendants. The order was sent without me being contacted to approve the design. I paid the custom fees and was excited to see the finished product. It was incorrect. Both name were combined. I contacted the seller, who kindly offered, to remake the order. Today, I received the "corrected order" was disappointed that it was not as beautiful and dainty as the first. I do not blame the seller. I am just bitterly disappointed that I spent money on something that I will not be able to use.

i gave 3 stars because the seller was quick to respond and replace my first necklace. the shipping is incredibly fast, which is a plus! the issue was that it was overly soldered so it was stiff and didnt lay flat, as well as caught on whatever top it was on. the new necklace came in and was still overly soldered in the same place, so i assumed that’s just the way they create their pieces and decided not to contact them. the stiff soldered part caused my necklace to break. pics show the first necklace (pics i sent the seller) and the broken replacement. the quality isnt there to me. i’ve had an etsy seller made name necklace that lasted me 3+ years, but wanted a new one with a larger name font. the necklace quality is 2 stars to me. i wish it met my expectations because i did like the design and size of my name.

Is this name necklace real gold?

Yes — 18K gold vermeil, which is a thick layer of real 18K gold over solid 925 sterling silver. It is the same construction fine jewelers use when they want real gold at a price you can justify for a name you will wear every day. If you want the silver version, choose Silver: that is the polished sterling underneath, not a plating. Solid 14K gold name necklaces exist, and they cost what a month's rent costs; ours is the version you buy without a conversation.

What is the best chain for a name necklace?

A box chain or a fine cable chain, 16 or 18 inches. A nameplate is wider than a pendant, so it needs a chain that lies flat and keeps the name facing forward — box chains do this best, cable chains come close and are the most delicate-looking. Paperclip and Italian chains are for women who want the chain to be part of the statement. Avoid anything that twists (rope, singapore) under a nameplate; the name ends up reading sideways by lunch.

Is this necklace real gold?

Yes — it is 18K gold vermeil: a thick layer of real 18K gold bonded over solid 925 sterling silver. Vermeil is an FTC-defined standard, not a marketing word, and ours uses a gold layer at least five times thicker than standard plating. Under it is sterling silver, which is hypoallergenic and worth something on its own. You can also choose the Prestige Gold option (the same 18K gold over a brass core) if you want the look for less and wear it less often. Every vermeil piece is covered by our 2-year warranty.

Are name necklaces still in style in 2026?

Yes — and they have stopped being a trend, which is better. The nameplate came back around 2015 and never really left; what changed is the scale. Right now the look is dainty: a fine script name on a thin chain, worn alone or as the top layer over a longer plain chain. It reads as personal rather than loud, and that is why it survives every other jewelry cycle. Big, chunky nameplates still exist — they just belong to a different outfit.

Can I put more than one name on a name necklace?

Yes. Several of our designs hold two, three or four names — your kids, your sisters, the people you would list first. On a single-name design, the neat trick is two short names joined by a heart or an ampersand, if the combined length stays short enough to read. If you want each name separate, look at the multiple-name, vertical-name and name-tag designs, where every person gets their own pendant on one chain. Tell us the names in the order you want them and we cut them exactly that way.

Can I shower or sleep in my gold vermeil necklace?

Sleep in it, yes. Shower in it, no. Water, sweat, perfume and hairspray are what age gold vermeil fastest, so the rule is simple: jewelry goes on last and comes off before the shower, the pool or the gym. Put it on after lotion and perfume have dried. When it is off, keep it in the pouch it came in — the pouch is anti-tarnish, not decoration. To clean it, a soft dry cloth; never jewelry dip or anything abrasive, which strips the gold. Treated this way, vermeil keeps its colour for years, which is exactly why we can put a 2-year warranty behind it.

What is my birthstone?

January garnet, February amethyst, March aquamarine, April diamond, May emerald, June pearl or alexandrite, July ruby, August peridot, September sapphire, October opal or pink tourmaline, November citrine or topaz, December turquoise, tanzanite or blue zircon. That is the modern list our stones follow. Choose the month when you order; on the two-stone and family designs, give us the months in the order you want them set.

Are the birthstones real gemstones?

They are colour-matched crystal stones, cut and set the way gemstones are, chosen because the colour is exact for each month and stays that way. A natural stone of this colour in a dainty setting at this price would be tiny and pale, so we use the stone that gets the colour right. It is bezel- or prong-set in 18K gold vermeil and covered by the same 2-year warranty as the metal.

How long does a personalized necklace take to arrive?

Most personalized orders arrive within 5 to 9 business days in the US: 3 to 5 business days for us to make it, then free USPS shipping that takes 2 to 4 days. Every personalized piece is made to order in our Miami studio — your name, stone or engraving is added before the gold goes on, so it is part of the piece, not a sticker on top. You get a tracking number the moment it ships. Because it is made for you, we cannot change spelling or size after checkout, so take one more look at the personalization before you pay. We ship worldwide; international delivery is 5 to 14 business days depending on the country, and duties are the buyer's.

What length necklace should I get?

If you are unsure, choose 18 inches — it sits just below the collarbone and works on almost everyone and with almost every neckline. 16 inches sits at the collarbone (the most popular length for dainty pendants and for layering as the top chain). 14 inches is a choker fit. 20 inches drops a few inches lower and is the right choice over a crew neck or as the bottom layer in a stack. This piece comes in 14, 16, 18 and 20 inches. If you are between lengths, go longer — a chain can always sit a little lower, and if a chain you already own comes up short, our 1, 2 and 3 inch extenders fix that in one clip.
