I placed a custom order for two different names on two different pendants. The order was sent without me being contacted to approve the design. I paid the custom fees and was excited to see the finished product. It was incorrect. Both name were combined. I contacted the seller, who kindly offered, to remake the order. Today, I received the "corrected order" was disappointed that it was not as beautiful and dainty as the first. I do not blame the seller. I am just bitterly disappointed that I spent money on something that I will not be able to use.

i gave 3 stars because the seller was quick to respond and replace my first necklace. the shipping is incredibly fast, which is a plus! the issue was that it was overly soldered so it was stiff and didnt lay flat, as well as caught on whatever top it was on. the new necklace came in and was still overly soldered in the same place, so i assumed that’s just the way they create their pieces and decided not to contact them. the stiff soldered part caused my necklace to break. pics show the first necklace (pics i sent the seller) and the broken replacement. the quality isnt there to me. i’ve had an etsy seller made name necklace that lasted me 3+ years, but wanted a new one with a larger name font. the necklace quality is 2 stars to me. i wish it met my expectations because i did like the design and size of my name.

Is this name necklace real gold?
It depends on the metal you pick, and only one of the three is solid gold. 14K Solid Gold is gold all the way through, not a layer over another metal, so there is no base metal underneath to wear through. 18K Gold Vermeil is 3.0 microns of real 18K gold over solid 925 sterling silver: real gold on a precious-metal base, made for wearing every day. Gold Plated is 0.5 microns of 18K gold over brass: the lowest price, for lighter wear. Choosing White Gold/Silver? On vermeil that is the sterling itself, on plated a silver-tone finish, and on 14K white gold. Warranty: 1 year on Gold Plated, 2 years on vermeil and 14K.

What is the best chain for a name necklace?
A box chain or a fine cable chain, 16 or 18 inches. A nameplate is wider than a pendant, so it needs a chain that lies flat and keeps the name facing forward — box chains do this best, cable chains come close and are the most delicate-looking. Paperclip and Italian chains are for women who want the chain to be part of the statement. Avoid anything that twists (rope, singapore) under a nameplate; the name ends up reading sideways by lunch.

What is different about 14K Solid Gold?
It is the same design, made of gold instead of finished in it. 14K means 58.5% pure gold, alloyed for strength — the standard for fine jewelry you wear every day. It is solid gold all the way through, not a layer over another metal: no base metal underneath, nothing to wear through. That is why it costs more — with vermeil and plated, the gold is a surface layer measured in microns; with 14K, the gold is the metal the piece is made of. The gold does not tarnish and does not mind the shower or sleep, and it is the one that gets handed down. 2-year warranty. Every 14K piece is made to order, so it takes 4 business days longer than vermeil or plated.

Are name necklaces still in style in 2026?
Yes — and they have stopped being a trend, which is better. The nameplate came back around 2015 and never really left; what changed is the scale. Right now the look is dainty: a fine script name on a thin chain, worn alone or as the top layer over a longer plain chain. It reads as personal rather than loud, and that is why it survives every other jewelry cycle. Big, chunky nameplates still exist — they just belong to a different outfit.

Can I put more than one name on a name necklace?
Yes. Several of our designs hold two, three or four names — your kids, your sisters, the people you would list first. On a single-name design, the neat trick is two short names joined by a heart or an ampersand, if the combined length stays short enough to read. If you want each name separate, look at the multiple-name, vertical-name and name-tag designs, where every person gets their own pendant on one chain. Tell us the names in the order you want them and they will read exactly that way.

Can I shower or sleep in my necklace?
It depends on the metal. 14K Solid Gold: yes to both — it is solid gold all the way through and does not tarnish, so it can stay on in the shower, in bed and every day in between. The one exception is a piece with pearls or soft natural stones: those come off before water whatever the metal. 18K Gold Vermeil: sleep in it, yes; shower, pool and gym, no. Gold Plated: off before the shower, the pool and the gym, and ideally at night too — water, sweat and perfume are what wear plating down fastest. With vermeil or plated, jewelry goes on last, after lotion and perfume have dried, and back in its anti-tarnish pouch when it comes off. Clean the metal with a soft dry cloth; never use jewelry dip or anything abrasive on vermeil or plated, which strips the finish.

What is my birthstone?
January garnet, February amethyst, March aquamarine, April diamond (ours is a clear CZ), May emerald, June pearl or alexandrite, July ruby, August peridot, September sapphire, October opal or pink tourmaline, November citrine or topaz, December turquoise, tanzanite or blue zircon. That is the modern list our colours follow: each birthstone on this piece is cubic zirconia in that month's colour. Choose the month when you order; on the two-stone and family designs, give us the months in the order you want them set.

Are the birthstones real gemstones?
They are colour-matched cubic zirconia, cut and set the way gemstones are, chosen because the colour is exact for each month and stays that way. We say so plainly: natural stones this small vary a lot in colour, and these do not. Each one is bezel- or prong-set in the metal you choose — Gold Plated, 18K Gold Vermeil or 14K Solid Gold — and covered by that metal's warranty: 1 year on Gold Plated, 2 years on vermeil and solid gold.

How long does a personalized necklace take to arrive?
Most personalized orders arrive within 5 to 9 business days in the US: 3 to 5 business days for us to make it, then free USPS shipping that takes 2 to 4 days. In 14K Solid Gold, allow 4 more business days, so 9 to 13 in all. Your name, stone or engraving is part of the piece, not a sticker on top: on vermeil and plated it is added before the finish goes on, and on 14K it is in the solid gold itself. You get a tracking number the moment it ships. Because it is made for you, spelling and size cannot change once we start making it, so take one more look at the personalization before you pay. We ship worldwide; international delivery is 5 to 14 business days depending on the country, and duties are the buyer's.

What length necklace should I get?
If you are unsure, choose 18 inches — it sits just below the collarbone and works on almost everyone and with almost every neckline. 16 inches sits at the collarbone (the most popular length for dainty pendants and for layering as the top chain). 14 inches is a choker fit. 20 inches drops a few inches lower and is the right choice over a crew neck or as the bottom layer in a stack. This piece comes in 14, 16, 18 and 20 inches. If you are between lengths, go longer — a chain can always sit a little lower, and if a chain you already own comes up short, our 1, 2 and 3 inch extenders fix that in one clip.
