Description

A slim navette bar of natural diamonds, hung like a single drop of light. Eleven round brilliants run down its centre in one row, graduated from the tiniest at each pointed tip to the largest in the middle, so the bar swells and tapers as it catches the light. A fine beaded edge traces both sides, and it hangs straight from a small tube bail on a delicate chain. In solid 14K white gold, at 0.36 ct, it lengthens a neckline without ever shouting.

Are these real diamonds?
Yes, every stone is a natural mined diamond, and the necklace ships with an IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate. There are eleven round brilliants in a single row, 0.36 carat in total, E–F colour and SI clarity.

Why are the diamonds different sizes?
It is deliberate. The stones are graduated: the smallest sit at each pointed tip and they grow to the largest at the centre, so the bar swells and tapers like a single long drop of light rather than a strip of identical dots. It is also why the outline reads as a clean, pointed navette shape from across a room.

Is it 14K solid gold all the way through?
Yes — solid 14K gold, no plating, nothing underneath, nothing to wear off. 14K means 58.5% pure gold alloyed for strength, which is the standard for fine jewelry you wear daily. It is naturally hypoallergenic, it will not tarnish, and it is the kind of piece you can hand down without a second thought. The only thing it ever needs is the occasional polish.

How long is the pendant?
A little over an inch from the top of the bail to the bottom tip, and only a few millimetres wide at its widest. Because it is long and slim it draws the eye down the neckline, which makes it look more elongated than its size suggests. Each one is made by hand, so sizes vary very slightly.

Will it hang straight, or twist round?
It hangs straight. The bar is symmetrical and hangs from a small tube bail on a jump ring, so its own weight keeps it pointing down. Like any pendant on a fine chain it can turn now and then as you move; a light touch puts it back.

Can I shower or sleep in a solid gold necklace?
A quick shower will not hurt solid 14K gold: it does not tarnish, has no plating to wear through and does not react to water. We still suggest taking a fine chain off to sleep, because a chain can kink or knot against a pillow over time. Soap film, lotion and hairspray dull any gold, so soak it now and then in warm water with a drop of mild soap, rinse, and dry it with a soft cloth to keep the diamonds bright.

Can I wear it every day?
Yes. Solid 14K white gold does not tarnish and has no plating to wear through, and the diamonds sit in claws cut into the bar with a beaded edge on both sides. Take it off for the gym, the pool and lotions, and check the clasp now and then as you would with any fine chain.

Which chain length should I choose?
On a 16 inch chain the bar sits just below the collarbones; on 18 inches it lands on the breastbone, which is how it is worn in the photographs and suits an open collar or a V neckline; 20 inches takes it lower, for higher necklines. 14 inches sits close to the base of the throat.

What length necklace should I get?
If you are unsure, choose 18 inches — it sits just below the collarbone and works on almost everyone and with almost every neckline. 16 inches sits at the collarbone (the most popular length for dainty pendants and for layering as the top chain). 14 inches is a choker fit. 20 inches drops a few inches lower and is the right choice over a crew neck or as the bottom layer in a stack. This piece comes in 14, 16, 18 and 20 inches. If you are between lengths, go longer — a chain can always sit a little lower, and if a chain you already own comes up short, our 1, 2 and 3 inch extenders fix that in one clip.
