Is it a real diamond?
No — all three stones are cubic zirconia, lab-made crystals cut and set exactly as diamonds would be, and we say so in the first sentence on purpose. The gold is the real thing: solid 14K, all the way through. Three diamonds this size would cost what a used car costs; CZ gives you the same cut and the same white fire, and from anything further than a jeweler's loupe, the same look. The difference is the price and the receipt.

What does a three-stone necklace mean?
Traditionally, past, present and future — one stone for each. That reading is why three-stone jewelry keeps turning up at anniversaries. You are also allowed your own three: three children, three sisters, three chapters that mattered. On this one the stones get larger as they go down, which is either symbolism or gravity, depending on who is asking.

Is it 14K solid gold all the way through?
Yes — solid 14K gold, no plating, nothing underneath, nothing to wear off. 14K means 58.5% pure gold alloyed for strength, which is the standard for fine jewelry you wear daily. It is naturally hypoallergenic, it will not tarnish, and it is the kind of piece you can hand down without a second thought. The only thing it ever needs is the occasional polish.

Does cubic zirconia get cloudy or lose its sparkle?
It gets dirty, which looks like cloudy, and it cleans right back. CZ itself is hard (8 to 8.5 on the Mohs scale, harder than steel) and does not yellow, scratch or dull on its own; what dulls it is the film of lotion, soap and skin oil that settles on any clear stone in a week of wear. Warm water, a drop of dish soap, a soft toothbrush, thirty seconds — and all three are as bright as the day they arrived.

How do I clean a CZ necklace?
A bowl of warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, five minutes, then a soft toothbrush around each stone, into the prongs and the small links between them, rinse, and dry with a soft cloth. Do this every couple of weeks, or whenever it looks tired. Solid gold does not mind water, so the shower will not hurt it — but soap film is what clouds a stone, so a quick rinse afterwards keeps all three bright.

Can I wear a solid gold necklace in the shower and to sleep?
Yes to both. Solid 14K gold does not tarnish, has no plating to wear through and does not react to water or sweat, so this is the necklace you put on and forget about. Soap film and lotion will dull any gold over time — a soak in warm water with a drop of dish soap, then a soft cloth, brings the shine back in a minute.

How are the stones set?
Prong-set, each one on its own. Every stone sits in four small gold claws that hold it at the edge and leave the rest open to the light, which is why prongs sparkle harder than a bezel, the rim of gold that wraps a stone all the way round. The three settings are joined by small gold links rather than fixed to one bar, so the pendant moves a little as you do. The honest trade-off: claws can catch on a loose knit, so lift a sweater over it rather than dragging it past.

Is a three-stone necklace a good gift?
