What is the difference between drop earrings and dangle earrings?
A drop hangs straight down from the post in a fixed line — one stone or one element below the lobe, and it does not swing. A dangle is jointed and moves when you do. Drops read as clean and architectural and suit work and weddings; dangles read as playful and catch light with every turn of your head. Both on this page sit below the lobe; the product photos show which one moves.

Are these drop earrings heavy?
No. The long ones are built hollow or from open links so they look substantial and weigh very little — the weight of a small hoop, not a chandelier. Anything on this page can be worn from breakfast to last call without your lobes filing a complaint. If you have stretched or sensitive piercings, the chain-link drops are the lightest.

Is this earring real gold?
Yes — it is 18K gold vermeil: a thick layer of real 18K gold bonded over solid 925 sterling silver. Vermeil is an FTC-defined standard, not a marketing word, and ours uses a gold layer at least five times thicker than standard plating. Under it is sterling silver, which is hypoallergenic and worth something on its own. You can also choose the Prestige Gold option (the same 18K gold over a brass core) if you want the look for less and wear it less often. Every vermeil piece is covered by our 2-year warranty.

Can I wear drop earrings every day, or only for evenings?
Every day, if the drop is short and simple — a single CZ or a clean chain link is an everyday earring that happens to move. Save the chunky statement drops for the nights you want one piece to do all the work. The test is the neckline: a drop that stops above the collar goes anywhere; a drop that reaches it is an outfit.

How do I stop drop earrings from flipping forward or swinging?
Use the right back. A flipping drop is a post that is too loose in the lobe; push the butterfly back a millimetre closer and it stays upright. For heavier drops, a larger "disc" back or a silicone-lined back spreads the weight and keeps the earring facing forward. If a drop still turns, it is the earring's balance rather than your ear, and a jeweler can add a tiny weight to the back in minutes.

Can I shower or sleep in my gold vermeil earring?
Sleep in it, yes. Shower in it, no. Water, sweat, perfume and hairspray are what age gold vermeil fastest, so the rule is simple: jewelry goes on last and comes off before the shower, the pool or the gym. Put it on after lotion and perfume have dried. When it is off, keep it in the pouch it came in — the pouch is anti-tarnish, not decoration. To clean it, a soft dry cloth; never jewelry dip or anything abrasive, which strips the gold. Treated this way, vermeil keeps its colour for years, which is exactly why we can put a 2-year warranty behind it.

What hairstyle and neckline go with drop earrings?
Hair up or tucked behind the ear — the whole point of a drop is that it is seen moving. Necklines: anything open (a V, a scoop, off-the-shoulder, a collar left unbuttoned) lets the drop finish the line of the neck; a high crew neck or a turtleneck competes with it. With drop earrings, skip the necklace or keep it to a single fine chain.

Are drop earrings good wedding or bridesmaid earrings?

Are these earrings good for sensitive ears?
Yes. The part that touches your piercing is sterling silver (under 18K gold vermeil), 316L surgical steel, or solid 14K gold depending on the tier you choose — all three are nickel-safe and the same metals piercing studios use for fresh piercings. The reaction most people blame on "gold earrings" is actually nickel or brass in cheap posts, and there is none in ours. If your ears are very reactive, choose the 18K gold vermeil or solid gold option and wipe the posts with a little rubbing alcohol before the first wear.
