Description

Slim pavé huggie hoops in 14K solid white gold, each carrying a round disc of natural diamonds built in rings: a halo of round brilliants, a fine openwork circle, a ring of baguettes, and at the centre a bright band of tall baguettes framed by smaller ones. The disc moves on a small ring under the hoop, so it turns and catches the light every time you do. 1.23 carats in all, IGI certified.

The Details

  • Metal: 14K solid white gold
  • Diamonds: natural baguette and round brilliant diamonds, approx. 1.23 ct in total (the pair)
  • Diamond colour / clarity: F–G colour, SI clarity

  • Drop: a round disc about 1.5 cm across – a halo of round diamonds, an openwork ring, a ring of baguettes and a centre band of baguettes – hung on a small ring so it moves freely
  • Length: about 3 cm from the top of the hoop to the bottom of the disc
  • Closure: hinged huggie with a snap catch

IGI Certified

Every piece in this collection is graded by the International Gemological Institute and ships with its IGI certificate. The diamonds are natural mined diamonds — not lab-grown.

Made for You

These earrings are handcrafted to order. Please allow up to 15 business days for production before they ship. Because each pair is made by hand, carat weight and measurements can vary slightly.

Care

Store them apart from other jewellery so the stones don't rub. Clean them with a little mild soap in warm water and a soft brush, then dry with a soft cloth. Put them on after perfume, lotion and hairspray, and take them off for sleep and sport.

Questions, answered

Everything people ask before they buy this earrings.

Are these real diamonds?

Yes - every stone is a natural mined diamond, and the pair ships with an IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate. There are 1.23 carats of diamond across the pair, graded F-G colour and SI clarity: bright, near-colourless stones whose small inclusions need a loupe to find, in two cuts - rectangular baguettes and round brilliants. Nothing here is lab-grown and nothing is a simulant, down to the smallest stone in the halo.

How do they fasten?

Each earring is a slim hinged huggie. The diamond-set front of the hoop swings open on its hinge, the post goes through your piercing and clicks shut into the plain back arm, so there is no separate back to lose. The disc hangs from a small ring under the hoop and moves freely, which is what makes it turn and catch the light every time you turn your head.

Are these 14K solid gold all the way through?

Yes — solid 14K gold, no plating, no base metal, nothing to wear off. 14K means 58.5% pure gold alloyed for strength, which is the standard for fine jewelry you wear daily. It is naturally hypoallergenic, it will not tarnish, and it is the one tier in our range you can hand down without a second thought. The only thing that ever needs attention is the occasional polish.

How big are they?

About 3 cm from the top of the hoop to the bottom of the disc, and the disc itself is about 1.5 cm across - a little smaller than a US dime. On most ears the hoop sits on the lobe and runs just past its lower edge, and the whole disc hangs below the lobe. Each pair is made by hand, so measurements can vary slightly from one pair to the next.

How is the disc made?

In rings, from the outside in: a halo of round brilliant diamonds; a narrow ring of polished openwork that lets a little skin show through; a ring of baguettes laid end to end with a small round diamond between each; and at the centre a band of tall baguettes standing side by side between two polished rails, with smaller baguettes and a scatter of round stones above and below. It is a great deal of stone-setting for something the size of a thumbnail, and it reads as one bright, structured medallion rather than a blur of pavé.

Can I shower or sleep in solid gold drop huggies?

A shower will not hurt them - solid 14K gold does not tarnish, has no plating to wear through and does not react to water or sweat. Sleeping is another matter: the hinged hoop itself is comfortable overnight, but the hanging drop can catch on a pillow or in your hair, so take them off for bed. Soap film, lotion and hairspray dull any gold, so soak them now and then in warm water with a drop of mild soap, rinse, and dry with a soft cloth - paying attention to the hinge, the little ring the drop hangs from and the back of the drop, where residue collects out of sight.

Will they pull on my piercing?

Not in the way a long chandelier does. The disc is a compact piece hung close to the lobe on a short ring, and the hinged hoop sits snugly round the lobe rather than dangling from a single thin hook, so the weight stays close and the disc swings a little instead of tugging. If your piercings are sensitive, give them a day or two to get used to any new drop.

Are they day earrings or evening earrings?

Both, which is rather the point: with a turtleneck and a blazer they look considered, with your hair up at night they do the talking. The solid 14K white gold will not tarnish. The disc is a drop, though, so take them off for sleep, sport and swimming, and keep it away from fine knitwear and scarves, which it will happily befriend. A soak in warm, mildly soapy water and a soft brush now and then keeps the baguettes bright.

How long does this earrings take to arrive?

It is handcrafted to order, so please allow up to 15 business days for it to be made before it ships. Once it ships, free standard USPS shipping takes 2 to 4 business days in the US, and you get a tracking number by email the moment it is on its way. Made-to-order pieces cannot be changed after checkout, so take one more look at your choices before you pay. It arrives in our signature gift box with a suede pouch. We ship worldwide; international delivery runs 5 to 14 business days depending on the destination, and any customs duties are the buyer's.

Are these earrings good for sensitive ears?

Yes. The part that touches your piercing is sterling silver (under 18K gold vermeil), 316L surgical steel, or solid 14K gold depending on the tier you choose — all three are nickel-safe and the same metals piercing studios use for fresh piercings. The reaction most people blame on "gold earrings" is actually nickel or brass in cheap posts, and there is none in ours. If your ears are very reactive, choose the 18K gold vermeil or solid gold option and wipe the posts with a little rubbing alcohol before the first wear.
