Description

A drop pendant built in three parts, all natural diamonds: a small flower of tapered baguettes at the top, a kite-shaped drop below it, and a round disc of upright baguettes split by a fine white-gold line. Baguettes flash in clean bands of light rather than scattered sparkle, so the whole piece has the crisp, architectural look of Art Deco jewellery. In solid 14K white gold, with 1.11 carats of diamonds, it lengthens a neckline and still sits light enough for every day.

Are these real diamonds?
Yes. Every stone is a natural mined diamond, 1.11 carat in total, E–F colour, VS to VS2 clarity, and the necklace ships with an IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate. Most of the weight is in the baguettes, with small round brilliants at the flower's centre, the petal tips and the corners of the disc.

What are baguette diamonds?
Baguettes are long, rectangular step-cut diamonds. Instead of the scattered sparkle of a round brilliant, they flash in clean bands of light, a little like a mirror catching the sun. Set side by side in the disc, they read as one bright, architectural surface — the look Art Deco jewellers loved.

Is it 14K solid gold all the way through?
Yes — solid 14K gold, no plating, nothing underneath, nothing to wear off. 14K means 58.5% pure gold alloyed for strength, which is the standard for fine jewelry you wear daily. It is naturally hypoallergenic, it will not tarnish, and it is the kind of piece you can hand down without a second thought. The only thing it ever needs is the occasional polish.

How big is it?
About three centimetres from the top of the flower to the bottom of the disc, with the disc a little over a centimetre across. It is long enough to draw the eye down a neckline but light enough for every day. Each one is made by hand, so sizes vary very slightly.

Does it move when I walk?
Gently. The flower is fixed to the chain at two points, so it stays face forward, while the drop and the disc below it are linked and swing a little as you move — which is what makes the baguettes flash.

Can I shower or sleep in a solid gold necklace?
A quick shower will not hurt solid 14K gold: it does not tarnish, has no plating to wear through and does not react to water. We still suggest taking a fine chain off to sleep, because a chain can kink or knot against a pillow over time. Soap film, lotion and hairspray dull any gold, so soak it now and then in warm water with a drop of mild soap, rinse, and dry it with a soft cloth to keep the diamonds bright.

Can I wear it every day?
Yes. Solid 14K white gold does not tarnish and has no plating to wear through. The baguettes sit in channels and the round stones in claws, so take it off for the gym, the pool and lotions, and check the clasp now and then as you would with any fine piece.

Which chain length should I choose?
On a 16 inch chain the pendant sits just below the collarbones; on 18 inches it lands on the breastbone, which is how it is worn in the photographs and suits an open collar or a V neckline; 20 inches takes it lower, for higher necklines. 14 inches sits close to the base of the throat.

How long does this necklace take to arrive?

What length necklace should I get?
If you are unsure, choose 18 inches — it sits just below the collarbone and works on almost everyone and with almost every neckline. 16 inches sits at the collarbone (the most popular length for dainty pendants and for layering as the top chain). 14 inches is a choker fit. 20 inches drops a few inches lower and is the right choice over a crew neck or as the bottom layer in a stack. This piece comes in 14, 16, 18 and 20 inches. If you are between lengths, go longer — a chain can always sit a little lower, and if a chain you already own comes up short, our 1, 2 and 3 inch extenders fix that in one clip.
