Description

Slim pavé huggie hoops in 18K solid white gold, each carrying a four-leaf clover of natural diamonds. Every petal is a small heart filled with a row of tapered baguette diamonds and edged with round brilliants, around a single round diamond at the centre, and the clover moves on a small ring under the hoop, so the baguettes flash every time you turn your head. 0.94 carats in all, IGI certified.

Every diamond in our fine jewelry is natural. Each one was formed deep within the earth, most more than a billion years ago, long before it was cut, polished and set in gold.

Many pieces that look like ours are made with lab-grown diamonds. Ours are not. Every piece in our fine jewelry collection is graded by the International Gemological Institute (IGI) and ships with its own certificate, so you never have to take our word for it.

Because each piece is crafted by master goldsmiths in Istanbul and comes directly to you, with no distributors or retail markups in between, we can offer natural diamonds at prices you would expect to pay for lab-grown.

Everything people ask before they buy this earring.

Are these real diamonds?
Yes - every stone is a natural mined diamond, and the pair ships with an IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate. There is 0.94 carat of diamond in total across the pair, graded E-F colour with VS to SI clarity: very white, near-colourless stones whose small inclusions need a loupe to find. Nothing here is lab-grown and nothing is a simulant - not the baguettes, and not the tiny stones along the hoop either.

How do they fasten?
Each earring is a slim hinged huggie. The diamond-set front of the hoop swings open on its hinge, the post goes through your piercing and clicks shut into the plain back arm, so there is no separate back to lose. The clover hangs from a small ring under the hoop and moves freely, which is what makes the baguettes flash every time you turn your head.

Are these 18K solid gold all the way through?
Yes — solid 18K gold, no plating, no base metal, nothing to wear off. 18K is 75% pure gold, where the 14K most fine jewellery is made from is 58.5%, so this is a step up in purity and in price. It is naturally hypoallergenic, it will not tarnish, and it is the one tier in our range you can hand down without a second thought. The one trade-off for the extra gold is that 18K is slightly softer than 14K, so it marks a little more easily. The only thing that ever needs attention is the occasional polish.

How big are they?
Roughly 3 cm from the top of the hoop to the bottom of the clover, with the clover itself about 13 mm across - close to the size of a thumbnail. On most ears the hoop sits on the lobe and the whole clover hangs just below it. These are approximate figures, and each pair is made by hand, so measurements can vary very slightly from one pair to the next.

How is the clover made?
Four heart-shaped petals meet in the centre like a four-leaf clover, set upright as a plus sign. Each heart is filled with a fan of slim tapered baguette diamonds and edged along its rounded top with small round brilliants, and a single round diamond in claws sits at the centre, ringed by tiny round stones. The baguettes throw long flashes of light and the rounds add the sparkle - which is the whole point of mixing the two.

Can I shower or sleep in solid gold drop huggies?
A shower will not hurt them - solid 18K gold does not tarnish, has no plating to wear through and does not react to water or sweat. Sleeping is another matter: the hinged hoop itself is comfortable overnight, but the hanging drop can catch on a pillow or in your hair, and purer 18K gold is a little softer, so take them off for bed. Soap film, lotion and hairspray dull any gold, so soak them now and then in warm water with a drop of mild soap, rinse, and dry with a soft cloth - paying attention to the hinge, the little ring the drop hangs from and the back of the drop, where residue collects out of sight.

Will they pull on my piercing?
Not in the way a long chandelier does. The clover is a compact, flat piece hung close under the lobe on a short ring, and the hinged hoop sits snugly round the lobe rather than dangling from a single thin hook, so the weight stays close to the ear. If your piercings are sensitive, give them a day or two to get used to any new drop.

Can I wear them every day?
You can, and the solid 18K white gold will not tarnish. Being purer gold, 18K is a touch softer, though, and the clover is a drop, so take them off for sleep, sport and swimming, and keep the petals away from fine knitwear and scarves, which they will happily befriend. A soak in warm, mildly soapy water and a soft brush now and then keeps the baguettes bright, especially behind the clover where lotion collects.

How long does this earring take to arrive?

Are these earrings good for sensitive ears?
Yes. The part that touches your piercing is sterling silver (under 18K gold vermeil), 316L surgical steel, or solid 14K gold depending on the tier you choose — all three are nickel-safe and the same metals piercing studios use for fresh piercings. The reaction most people blame on "gold earrings" is actually nickel or brass in cheap posts, and there is none in ours. If your ears are very reactive, choose the 18K gold vermeil or solid gold option and wipe the posts with a little rubbing alcohol before the first wear.
