Are these real diamonds?
Yes. Each earring holds one natural baguette-cut diamond, E–F color and VS–SI clarity, about 0.06 carat for the pair, and the pair comes with an IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate. The bright frame around it is not pavé: it is solid 14K white gold cut with tiny facets, so it flashes like stones without being stones.

What is an illusion setting?
A plate of mirror-polished gold faceted like the steps of an emerald cut, set around a smaller diamond. The polished planes throw light toward the stone, so from across a room the centre reads as one large emerald-cut diamond. It is a classic Art Deco technique, and the carat weight on this page is the real diamond weight, not the size it appears.

Are these 14K solid gold all the way through?
Yes — solid 14K gold, no plating, no base metal, nothing to wear off. 14K means 58.5% pure gold alloyed for strength, which is the standard for fine jewelry you wear daily. It is naturally hypoallergenic, it will not tarnish, and it is the one tier in our range you can hand down without a second thought. The only thing that ever needs attention is the occasional polish.

How does a lever-back closure work?
The lever-back is a hinged hoop. Pass the wire through your piercing, then press the lever closed behind the lobe until it clicks. There is no separate back to lose and the drop cannot slide out, which makes it the most secure closure for an earring that hangs.

What does the IGI certificate tell me?
The IGI (International Gemological Institute) is one of the largest independent diamond grading labs in the world. Your certificate records what the lab found: that the diamonds are natural, plus their cut, color, clarity and carat weight. Keep it with your receipt; it is the document an insurer or appraiser will ask for.

Can I wear solid gold drop earrings in the shower or to sleep?
A quick shower will not hurt solid 14K gold: it does not tarnish, has no plating to wear through and does not react to water. We still suggest taking drop earrings off to sleep, because a hanging piece can catch on pillows and bend the lever-back over time. Soap film, lotion and hairspray dull any gold, so soak them now and then in warm water with a drop of mild soap, rinse, and dry with a soft cloth to keep every facet bright.

How big are they?
The octagonal drop is about 12.5 × 14.5 mm and the whole earring hangs about 29 mm (1.1 in) from the piercing, so it sits just below the lobe: easy to see, never heavy. Because every pair is made by hand, sizes can vary very slightly.

Can I wear them every day?
Yes. Solid 14K white gold does not tarnish or wear through, and the lever-back keeps them secure. Take them off for swimming, the gym and lotions, and wipe them with a soft cloth now and then to keep the facets bright.

Are these earrings good for sensitive ears?
Yes. The part that touches your piercing is sterling silver (under 18K gold vermeil), 316L surgical steel, or solid 14K gold depending on the tier you choose — all three are nickel-safe and the same metals piercing studios use for fresh piercings. The reaction most people blame on "gold earrings" is actually nickel or brass in cheap posts, and there is none in ours. If your ears are very reactive, choose the 18K gold vermeil or solid gold option and wipe the posts with a little rubbing alcohol before the first wear.
