Designed Here in Miami
Every piece starts as a sketch in our Miami studio — the hoops, the chains, the name necklaces, all of it. Then it's made by hand, to order, in that same studio.
A name necklace is the one piece of jewelry nobody else can borrow. This collection spells it in the font you pick — script, block, bubble, vertical — in one name or four, with a birthstone or a heart hung alongside if you want it. All 18K gold vermeil over solid sterling silver, or gold plated, in gold, silver or rose gold, on chains from 14 to 20 inches.
They're the most-searched question about them, so plainly a lot of people worry about it. What makes one look cheap is almost never the concept — it's a thin pendant in a novelty font on a chain that kinks. A clean script or block cut in a decent gauge, on 18 inches, reads as jewelry. Carrie Bradshaw wore one in 1998 and the category never actually left.
Yes, and the shape of the trend has shifted rather than faded. Oversized script has given way to smaller, thinner nameplates and vertical bars you have to lean in to read. Layering a name at 16 inches under a plain chain at 20 is the version that looks current.
Regularly, and they have for decades — nameplates have been a staple of hip-hop and Latino jewelry culture since the eighties, long before the dainty version existed. If you're buying for a man, go block rather than script, 20 inches, and a heavier chain than you'd choose for yourself.
On its own at 18 inches if you want it read, or layered as the shortest chain in a stack of two or three. The rule that matters: only one pendant should be doing the talking. A name plus a birthstone works because the stone is small. A name plus another wide pendant just looks crowded.
Not in vermeil — it is gold over solid sterling silver, with no copper to reach skin. Thin plating on brass is what causes that. Ours runs 0.5 microns, against a 0.2 micron industry standard. Industry standard vermeil is 0.2 microns and most gold-plated jewelry is 0.5. What does dull it is perfume and hairspray, so put it on last and take it off first.
18 inches for most names. A name pendant is wider than a single charm, and at 16 it can ride up into the hollow of the throat where the letters bunch. Three or four letters sit fine at 16. Past eight letters go 18 or 20 and let it hang where it can actually be read.
For a single letter instead of the whole name, see initial necklaces. To add a stone, see birthstone necklaces. The same engraving goes on name rings and name bracelets, or browse everything in personalized necklaces.
