Everything people ask before they buy this ring.

How do you stack rings?
Odd numbers, one texture, one sparkle, and leave a finger bare. Start with a plain slim band, add one with texture (twisted, braided, beaded) and one with a little CZ, and keep them on one or two fingers rather than spreading five rings across both hands. Mix widths but not metals unless you do it deliberately. The stack looks intentional when one ring is clearly the anchor — a signet or a croissant — and the rest are supporting it.

What finger do you wear a stacking ring on, and do the fingers mean anything?
Any finger, and yes, a little. Ring finger: commitment (left hand in most of the West). Middle finger: balance and the ring you wear to be seen — the widest stack looks best here. Index: ambition and authority, the old signet finger. Pinky: independence and, in some families, the family crest. Thumb: willpower, and the hardest finger to size. For everyday stacking, the middle and index fingers of the right hand carry the most rings without crowding a wedding band.

Is this ring real gold?
It depends on the metal you pick, and only one of the three is solid gold. 14K Solid Gold is solid 14K gold all the way through, not a layer over another metal. 18K Gold Vermeil is a 3.0-micron layer of real 18K gold over solid 925 sterling silver — 15 times the 0.2-micron industry standard, and vermeil is an FTC-defined term, not a marketing word. Gold Plated is a 0.5-micron layer of 18K gold over a brass base, 2.5 times that standard. Choosing White Gold/Silver? On vermeil it is the sterling silver itself, on plated a silver-tone finish over brass, and on 14K solid white gold. Warranty: 1 year on Gold Plated, 2 years on vermeil and 14K.

What is different about 14K Solid Gold?
It is the same design, made of gold instead of finished in it. 14K means 58.5% pure gold, alloyed for strength — the standard for fine jewelry you wear every day. It is solid gold all the way through, not a layer over another metal: no base metal underneath, nothing to wear through. That is why it costs more — with vermeil and plated, the gold is a surface layer measured in microns; with 14K, the gold is the metal the piece is made of. The gold does not tarnish and does not mind the shower or sleep, and it is the one that gets handed down. 2-year warranty. Every 14K piece is made to order, so it takes 4 business days longer than vermeil or plated.

How does an adjustable ring work — will it lose its shape?
On our adjustable designs, the band is open at the back, so you press it gently tighter or ease it wider to fit — once, when it arrives, not every day. Whichever metal you choose, the band holds the shape you set; it loosens only if you keep bending it, so find your fit and then leave it alone. Adjustable rings suit fingers that swell in heat, rings you move between fingers, and gifts where you do not know the size.

What is a signet ring, and what goes on it?
A ring with a flat face — originally pressed into wax to seal letters, which is why it was always engraved with a crest or initials. Today it is the ring with something to say: a letter, a birth flower, a north star, a single stone, or nothing at all, polished. Traditionally worn on the pinky; now on whichever finger you want a focal point. Ours come in Gold Plated, 18K Gold Vermeil and 14K Solid Gold — the same face in all three, and only the 14K is gold all the way through.

Can I shower or sleep in my ring?
It depends on the metal. 14K Solid Gold: yes to both — it is solid gold all the way through and does not tarnish, so it can stay on in the shower, in bed and every day in between. The one exception is a piece with pearls or soft natural stones: those come off before water whatever the metal. 18K Gold Vermeil: sleep in it, yes; shower, pool and gym, no. Gold Plated: off before the shower, the pool and the gym, and ideally at night too — water, sweat and perfume are what wear plating down fastest. With vermeil or plated, jewelry goes on last, after lotion and perfume have dried, and back in its anti-tarnish pouch when it comes off. Clean the metal with a soft dry cloth; never use jewelry dip or anything abrasive on vermeil or plated, which strips the finish.

What is a croissant ring?
A domed band with deep ridges that curve around it like the layers of the pastry it is named after — the ring version of a sculpture. It reads as substantial without being heavy, catches light from every angle because of the ridges, and is the ring to wear alone when you want one thing on your hand. It comes in chunky, flat and adjustable versions; the flat one stacks.

Do gold rings tarnish faster than necklaces?
Plated and vermeil rings wear faster, yes — wear, not tarnish. A ring is the hardest-working piece of jewelry you own: keys, steering wheels, gym bars, hand sanitiser, dishes. The gold layer on a ring's outer edge will soften sooner than on a necklace that just hangs there. Two habits double its life: take rings off to wash your hands and apply lotion, and keep them off in the gym. 14K Solid Gold is solid gold all the way through, not a layer over another metal, and does not tarnish; at most it wants the occasional polish. If a ring does not hold up with normal care, the warranty replaces it — 1 year on Gold Plated, 2 years on 18K Gold Vermeil and 14K Solid Gold.

How fast does this ring ship?
In 18K Gold Vermeil or Gold Plated it is ready to ship and leaves our Miami studio within 24 hours on business days, with free standard USPS shipping on every US order — typically 2 to 4 business days door to door. In 14K Solid Gold it is made to order, so allow 4 extra business days before it ships. Expedited shipping is available at checkout for ready-to-ship items. You get a tracking number by email when it is on its way, and it arrives in our signature gift box with a suede pouch, so if it is a gift you are already done. We ship worldwide; international delivery runs 5 to 14 business days depending on the destination, and any customs duties are the buyer's.

How do I find my ring size at home?
Wrap a thin strip of paper around the base of the finger, mark where it overlaps, measure the length in millimetres and match it to a US ring size chart: 49 mm is a size 5, 52 mm a 6, 54 mm a 7, 57 mm an 8, 59 mm a 9. Measure at the end of the day when fingers are largest, and make sure the strip slides over the knuckle. If you already own a ring that fits, measure its inside diameter instead — 16.5 mm is a 6, 17.3 mm a 7, 18.2 mm an 8. This ring comes in US 3 to 10. Between sizes? Go up — a slightly loose ring is wearable, a tight one is not.
